HSEC - High School Equivalency Certificate

 
The Wyoming Community College Commission approved multiple pathways to earn the Wyoming High School Equivalency Certificate. 番茄社区 offers two tests: HiSET and 2014 GED庐. Both tests are based on a subset of the Common Core State Standards CCSSS) referred to as the College and Career Readiness Standards CCRSS).
 

Free preparation for the HiSET is available through ACES in Cheyenne and the TLC in Laramie.

  • Testing is available in-person on computer, in-person on paper or remotely as an online exam.
  • Tests are available in English or Spanish.

  • Test center fee of $40 for the initial 5 subject tests or $10 per subject test (including retakes) must be prepaid to 番茄社区.

Candidates are encouraged to enroll in the ACES program to complete their High School Equivalency Certificate preparation. This preparation is free. Individualized instruction is provided to prepare students to complete the High School Equivalency Certificate tests. Classes offered include reading, writing, math, science and social studies.

Laramie Campus

Candidates are encouraged to enroll in the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) program to complete their High School Equivalency Certificate HSECC) Preparation. This preparation is free. Individualized instruction is provided to prepare students to complete the HiSET test. Classes offered include reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

Testing

Pre-Testing and Instruction

Students begin their program by completing the Test of Adult Basic Education TABEE). This assessment will allow the TLC to design an educational plan that best fits each students needs. 

番茄社区 uses a variety of instructional devices and programs to help students achieve their goals. These include: 

  • instructor-led classes  
  • one-on-one instruction by appointment  
  • an adult education packet that includes work in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science  

Official Practice Tests and High School Equivalency Certificate Signup 

After the student has completed assigned work and has shown improvement, they will begin the Official High School Equivalency Certificate Practice test. When they score prepared and/or well prepared on the test, they can then sign up for the official HiSET. 

Costs

The High School Equivalency Certificate test costs a total of $115 for all five tests at the Albany County Campus in Laramie. If these fees present a problem, students can speak with their instructor about applying for a partial $40 scholarship.
